OKLAOOSA COUNTY : A San Antonio man driving erratically on Interstate 10 near
Crestview Thursday was taken into custody after Okaloosa County
Sheriff’s deputies used spike strips to stop his fleeing car.
32-year old James Rodriguez told deputies he has never had a
drivers license.
Multiple motorists reported him driving extremely slowly in the
eastbound lanes around 2:30 p.m. yesterday, swerving all over the
roadway, and nearly hitting numerous vehicles.
He refused to stop for deputies and sideswiped a patrol car.
After running into the median Rodriguez became unconscious
and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of a suspected
heroin overdose.
He is charged with hit and run leaving the scene of an accident,
DUI with property damage, fleeing and eluding with disregard to
safety, and driving without a valid license.
