HOUSTON COUNTY: This article I have debated on for several days. But I feel the public needs to know about your Sheriff and some issues recently faced.
While not going into any specifics the Houston County Sheriff Department lost a deputy sheriff who suddenly passed away.
Houston County Sheriff Donald Valenza personally got out Friday night on shift to meet face to face with the deputies on duty. In fact Sheriff Valenza, who worked all day Friday, was still out at midnight.
The purpose of Sheriff Valenza being in service and on the streets with the deputies on duty was to meet with each deputy personally. Sheriff Valenza wanted to meet and talk with each deputy to make sure they knew he cared for each one as a individual. And if the sudden loss of their Deputy family was affecting them or they wanted to talk, he was there.
Also that Sheriff Valenza would provide a professional confidential counselor to meet one on one with them.
This weekend was the deputy’s shift and fellow team members who are on duty.
Please pray for all emergency responders in all walks of emergency services. Please pray for members of Houston County Sheriff Department and this deputies family.
He was loved by all who worked with him.
This article was written, not to pat Sheriff Valenza on the back as look at him. It was written because the Sheriff works for the people and the people need to know his care and concern for each person.
Sheriff Valenza supports the peer support. He believes after deputies see or deal with trauma, that as Sheriff he needs to make counselors available. What these officers see and encounter, affects people in different wats.
