August 1, 2012 (Dothan, AL)    A new fitness concept, “AIRialates” was recently introduced to Dothan by Jennifer Borland, certified STOTT Pilates instructor and owner of Borland Studio of Pilates located in Paradise Fitness for Women.  “AIRialates” coined by Borland is the meeting point of pilates and the aerial arts in which you use a pilates technique while suspended in air in a silk hammock mounted from the ceiling.  This progressive form of exercise also known as anti gravity yoga is gaining popularity in major metropolitan areas, but is far from being main stream.  Borland, who has trained extensively in New York, Dallas and Atlanta most recently trained at the Orlando Aerial Arts School for over two years to perfect the blend of STOTT pilates and the aerial arts which Borland aptly named “AIRialates.”

After years as a personal trainer and fitness competitor, Borland was inspired to open Borland Studio of Pilates in 2007, offering group and private instruction.  Under Borland’s careful instruction and infectious energy for a balanced approach to health and exercise, her client base continued to grow through word of mouth by faithful clients.  In preparation for introducing AIRialates to Dothan, Borland completely renovated her studio to make the structural provisions needed to support the brightly colored silk hammocks in which clients are suspended during their exercise class.  Dim lighting and earthy rhythmic music selections enhance the class experience.

“This effort has been a labor of love. For each of you who have watched Cirque Du Soleil and dreamed, ‘I wish I could do that!’ this class is for you!”  Borland assures these classes can be done by virtually anyone.  It may sound extreme, but people of all ages and fitness levels have started from scratch and found benefits in increased flexibility as well as building stamina and core strength.  “It’s a modern take on using body resistance to have some high flying fun!” says Borland.  It’s also an ideal way to avoid the have-to-go to the gym routine.  Borland’s loyal clients were offered the opportunity to participate in the first month of AIRialates classes who have overwhelmingly fallen in love with the fluid form of movement, the thrill of being suspended off the ground, and a completely different exercise experience.  Lynne Herndon, one of Borland’s long time clients said, “AIRialates allows me to move freely but with great form, and if you know Jennifer you are clinching every muscle in your body!  Not only are you stretching your muscles but you are toning at the same time.  It is guaranteed to give you an awesome upper body workout.”

For more information on AIRialates, an interview and/or for a private demonstration, contact Jennifer Borland at 334-405-3253.
