The Alabama Department of Corrections said today it is investigating the death of inmate Moses Robinson, 38, of Montgomery, who died on Dec. 31 from injuries he suffered in an inmate-on-inmate assault the day before at Holman Correctional Facility.
“The ADOC condemns all violence in its facilities, and the fatal actions taken against Robinson by another inmate will thoroughly investigated and met with swift justice,” the ADOC said in a statement. “Robinson’s cause of death is pending a full autopsy, and more information will be available upon the conclusion of the investigation into his death.”
Robinson was serving a life sentence for murder.
The Equal Justice Initiative reported in November that Alabama prisons had the highest homicide rate in the nation.
