ALEA Investigates Inmate Death

COVINGTON COUNTY – On Saturday, Feb. 3, at the request of the Covington County


Sheriff’s Office, Special Agents with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) launched an investigation into an in-custody death reported at approximately 2:15 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 3, at the Covington County Jail. SBI Special Agents identified Justin Aaron Blackmon 34, of Andalusia, as the decedent. An autopsy will be performed by the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences.


Nothing further is available as the investigation is ongoing. Once complete, the findings will be turned over to the Covington County District Attorney’s Office.
