September is Child Cancer Awareness Month
I would love to share this story with all of you so
that you can pass along to others how childhood cancer is all around us.
You can also tell others how so many children with cancer and cancer survivors
help others even while they are fighting battles themselves.
First of all let me start with the CAKES FOR CAT CAT FUNDRAISER.
Even though the fundraiser is now over donations are still continuing to come in ...
It is fast approaching the record ($16,500 ) for the most money ever raised
since the very first fundraiser that was started for Cody Hayes 5 years ago
who was and still is my inspiration for the cake fundraisers for children with cancer and other deadly diseases.
More people participated in making donations than ever before which just goes to show us
that we live in a very caring and giving community.
Donations came from all over not just from our community.
But....
The CAKES FOR CAT CAT fundraiser has a much bigger story to tell.
In all the fundraisers we have done I have never seen so many who helped
make it a success that had situations of their own to deal with.
THE STRONGEST PEOPLE MAKE TIME TO HELP OTHERS,
EVEN IF THEY ARE STRUGGLING WITH THEIR OWN PERSONAL PROBLEMS!!!!
Addison, Thomas and Rylann are three great examples of that. Addison is a recent cancer survivor after being
diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2018, Thomas was diagnosed with neuroblastoma
and still going through treatments
and Rylann had a heart transplant the first of the year
after being diagnosed last year with a heart disease.
All three wanted to help make cakes to help Cat Cat And Addison I think is still
getting some cake orders to help with the fundraiser And Thomas and his mom have been making cakes as well.
Without naming names one lady who helped make cakes is a Stage 4 Breast Cancer survivor
and another lady who helped was just recently told her cancer has returned but
that didn’t stop her from still baking cakes.
I had phone calls from donors who told me that they were diagnosed with cancer but
they wanted to help CatCat and then there was the gentleman who called and
asked me to meet him in Lowe’s parking lot.
He would not give me his name but I could tell he had a very recent medical treatment
because bandages were still wrapped around his arms.
As he was trying his hardest to hold back his tears he told me as he handed me some cash that
he didn’t have a lot to give but he wanted to give something to help Cat Cat.
FOLKS GOD IS GOOD ISN’T HE?
Because he created all of you who helped and all of you who prayed and all of you who that have been through battles of your own yet he brought you through it safe and sound.
From all of us with...C.A.K.E.
