Arrest in Elba

According to a press release by the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO), an Elba man was arrested on Friday, May 19.

Christopher Michael Nelson, age 46, was charged with sodomy in the 1st degree.

He is booked into the Coffee County Jail and currently has no bond.

The arrest stems from a complaint from a 16-year-old victim, and the incident allegedly occurred in the 300 block of Highway 189.

According to online records on the CCSO’s website, Nelson has a previous conviction of 1st degree sodomy that happened in 1999 in Coffee County; he is currently registered as a sex offender.

The incident is still under investigation, and no further information is being released at this time.
