Arrest Made in the Jerry Bailey Homicide Investigation

BIRMINGHAM ALA :The Birmingham Police Department reports detectives have obtained a warrant for an arrest in connection to the murder of Jerry Bailey. He was shot and killed on Saturday, June 1, 2024, in the 3500 Block of RAJ Boulevard North.


The suspect has been identified as:

Jamela Melton, (28), B/F, of Birmingham, Alabama. 



Jamela Melton was taken into custody on the scene.



Birmingham Police Detectives presented case information to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office. After an assessment of the information, detectives obtained a warrant for Capital Murder (Suspect inside a vehicle) on Jamela Melton.



Jamela Melton will be in the custody of the Jefferson County Jail where she will be held with No Bond.
