ATTEMPTED TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO PURSUIT; SUBJECT APPREHENDED

WASHINGTON COUNTY, FL; – A Holmes County man has been arrested after leading Law Enforcement on a vehicle pursuit from Washington to Holmes County followed by a short foot chase.
At approximately 10:45 p.m., May 2nd, Deputies with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop as the vehicle merged onto I-10 West. With speeds in excess of 15 mph over the posted maximum speed limits, the vehicle continued traveling with lights and sirens activated until exiting the interstate at Bonifay in Holmes County.
The driver later identified, as 31-year-old, Julian Eugene Sanders continued traveling North though Bonifay. After turning onto a side street, Sanders exited through the passenger side of the vehicle and continued on foot. In a joint effort by Washington County and Holmes County deputies, Sanders was apprehended a short time later.
Sanders was found to be in possession of several illegal items when arrested.
Sanders was transported to the Holmes County Jail on charges of fleeing and eluding, resisting an officer, possession of methamphetamine and felony possession of a firearm.
Additional Washington County charges are pending.
