JACKSON COUNTY: On February 13, 2021 around 7pm, Deputies with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a citizen complaint of a reckless driver. The caller stated that the Vehicle behind them and driving very erratic and appeared to be trying to run them off the road.
After being followed for sometime by the suspicious vehicle, the caller pulled into the parking lot of Jackson Correctional Institution, where the vehicle continued to follow them. Due to the suspicious behavior the caller did not park and made several loops through the parking lot as the suspicious vehicle continued to follow them. At one point while making a sharp turn in the parking lot, the suspicious driver failed to negotiate the turn and crashed into an unoccupied, parked transport van in the parking lot.
With assistance from the Jackson Correctional Institution staff, the vehicle was stopped and the subject was detained until the arrival of Deputies. The driver was identified as Zachary Harris. Harris stated he believed the vehicle he was following was his wife’s. A check of Harris’ information through NCIC/FCIC returned he had an active warrant for two counts of Violation of Injunction for Protection. Harris was taken into custody and transported to the Jackson County Correctional Facility to await first appearance.
