BIRMINHAM ALA: The FBI-Law Enforcement Executive Development Association (FBI-LEEDA) announced that the Birmingham Police Department was awarded the FBI-LEEDA Agency Trilogy Award. The Agency Trilogy Award honors law enforcement agencies across the country that exemplify the leadership qualities needed to enhance their departments and positively impact the communities they serve.
The entire command staff (Sergeants to Chief of Police) of the Birmingham Police Department successfully completed a comprehensive three-part leadership series that addressed leadership and management topics such as diversity and inclusion, bias, public trust, transformational leadership, and emotional and social intelligence.
FBI-LEEDA’s Executive Director Jacques S. Battiste presented Chief Scott Thurmond on behalf of the Birmingham Police Department.
“Receiving the FBI-LEEDA Agency Trilogy Award reflects our commitment to continuously educating and developing our command staff,” said Chief Scott Thurmond, Birmingham Police Department. “We are eager to apply these enhanced skills to better serve our community.
The Agency Trilogy Award, consists of the Supervisor, Command and Executive Leadership Institute with each class offering a different perspective on the ranks of law enforcement leadership.
“The FBI LEEDA Department Trilogy Award is a historical milestone for the Birmingham Police Department. It demonstrates our commitment to excellence. More importantly, it moved the needle towards closing the gap between our sworn and non-sworn team members in regard to professional development and teamwork.
Special thanks to the BPD Professional Development Team for hosting the classes over the course of several months and everyone involved in securing and approving the funding. This was an invaluable investment." - Lt. Parhm Mack
