Chipley Fla Man Chsrges for Battery on Law Enforcement/EMT and Resisting an Officer with Violence

On May 12, 2022, Washington County Deputies responded to the report of a suspicious person trespassing on private property near the Blue Lake area. On arrival, a Washington County Deputy encountered a white male who was acting consistent with someone being under the influence of narcotics. During questioning, the male’s response lead the deputy to the conclusion that detaining him for a medical intervention and hold was appropriate, and attempted to place restraints on the male. While attempting to restrain the male, he became violent, aggressively attacking the deputy, grabbing the deputy by the throat in an attempt choke the deputy. The deputy was able to break the subjects grip from his neck and take him to the ground, as other deputies arrived on scene and helped subdue the subject.
After medical evaluation and clearance, the male identified as 32 year old Michael Anthony Davis of Chipley, continued to resist and fight deputies while restrained. Davis was arrested and transported to the Washington County Jail where he continued to fight deputies until being placed into a holding cell.
Davis is currently being held at the Washington County Jail with charges for Battery on Law Enforcement/EMT and Resisting an Officer with Violence. His bond is currently set at $25,000.00 total.
