Clayburn Cox (yep, that’s his real name) is a Southern deadpan comedian with an offbeat delivery and stage presence. He’s originally from Ragland, Alabama and currently lives in Auburn with his amazing wife and two little girls. When Clayburn Cox isn’t shaping young minds as an Auburn High School graphic design teacher, or home helping to raise his two daughters, he spends his nights performing stand-up comedy.
Cox’s stand up career has been on a steady up-hill climb since he began telling jokes over eight years ago. In 2011, he won first place in the "Clean Comedy Challenge," a Last Comic Standing-style comedy competition. He is currently a member of the "Laugh All Night" comedy tour, and has performed all over the country. Nationally acclaimed comedian Henry Cho has stated the following about Clayburn: "After doing standup comedy for 30 years, I’ve seen many comedians come and go. I tour only with clean comedians who are funny. Clayburn Cox fits the bill to a T!"
Clayburn displays a refreshing brand of clean comedy and rises above a culture that promotes crude comedy. He is not only clean and funny, but he also proclaims God’s story of redemption in the Gospel! Clayburn Cox is an absolutely gifted comedian and a dedicated Christian. He believes laughter is not only “good medicine” it’s God’s medicine.
Friendship Baptist Church, on Highway 27, north of Geneva, will host Mr. Cox on September 29 at 10:30 a.m. as part of their Homecoming service. Admission is free and all are invited! Revival Speaker. Services begin at 6:30 p.m. each night.
