COFFEE COUNTY: In a beautiful setting on a Coffee County farm before family and friends, the Honorable Probate Judge Thompson administered the Oath of Office to the Coffee County Coroner Elect and Deputy Coroners.
The registered voters of Coffee County elected Arnold Woodham as Coffee County Coroner. He will assume the duties of Coroner at 12:01 AM tonight. Judge Thompson administered the oath to Coroner Woodham and his wife held the Bible.
Woodham has selected a Chief Deputy Coroner and Deputy Coroner. Serving with Woodham will be Mark Kelley and Patrick Alford.
Woodham said that it is his desire and those of the two men who will be serving beside him to serve with dignity, treating the deceased with the honor and dignity they deserve, standing in the deceased shoe's protecting his or her rights, and serving the families in one of the most difficult situations they will ever experience.
The oath of office was began with a prayer led by Woodham's Pastor.
Woodham said that he and Sheriff Elect Scott Byrd have discussed the working relationship. Woodham said the Coroner's Office has been located in the basement of the Coffee County Courthouse. Sheriff Elect Byrd is setting up an office for the Coroner's Office which will be located at the Sheriff Office complex in New Brockton.
