Coffee County Traffic Stop Led in High Speed Pursuit

COFFEE COUNTY:Deputies with the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office attempted to make a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by Alfred Tremayne Purvis, 47, of Elba, on Thursday, June 27, for having outstanding felony warrants from Coffee County.
Purvis led deputies on a high-speed pursuit into Covington County for a short period of time, and returned to Coffee County. During the pursuit Purvis was observed discarding multiple bags of narcotics from his vehicle. The pursuit ended on County Road 376 where Purvis pulled into a residence and surrendered to deputies without incident.
Purvis was taken into custody and booked into the Coffee County Jail on four counts of Drug Trafficking, two counts of Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance, Felony Attempting to Elude, and Tampering with Physical Evidence.
