KINSEY:   The last Kinsey City Council meeting two members of the Kinsey Planning and Zoning Board asked a question that shocked me. But I waited until after the election to write about it.

It has been a while since STUPID SLAPS have been issued by RSN. But their question deserves

Two members of the Kinsey Planning and Zoning Board, Richard and Ester Patz, asked the Kinsey Town Council why the Kinsey Police Officer and a Kinsey Town Councilman rode the Kinsey Police car to a funeral in Blakely Georgia.

The Kinsey Police Officer was Robert Jones and the Councilman, who is also the Kinsey Volunteer Fire Chief, was Jason Reneau.

Mr. Tommy Ferguson, a business owner, a resident of Kinsey Alabama, lost his 12 year old grandson to a battle of cancer. His grandson lived in Blakely Georgia and the funeral visitation and funeral was in Blakely Georgia.

Then officer Jones and Councilman/Fire Chief Reneau drove the Kinsey Police car to Blakely Georgia showing their respects for the funeral services of Mr. Ferguson's 12 year old grandson.

Recently, before the football game, the middle school retired the young man's jersey.

I drove my truck to Blakely Georgia for the visitation to show my respect. While I did it because I knew Tommy, I did it more out of respect for the 12 year young man and how he handled the battle with cancer and his brave attitude and caring more for others. Not poor me, who had already lost his foot before his death. But he cared more for others then himself during his fight for his life, which he lost.

But for someone to be so selfish, so self centered, so cold hearted to question why someone would drive the car and represent the Town of Kinsey at the funeral of a long time resident and businessman of Kinsey 12 year old grandson is beyond me.

The Patz daughter is a councilman of Kinsey. She remained quiet but made movement with her head as if she approved of the question. I will not say she did out of fairness because she did not say anything.

But Richard and Ester owe Tommy Ferguson, Interim Police Chief Jones and Mayor Elect Reneau an apology. More than that, they owe the 12 year who fought cancer and lost the battle an apology.

Your political differences are yours. But respect for the 12 year old is worth the gas it took for the police car to Blakely.
