Dale County Commission Approved $ 1.6 Million In Support of EMSRickey Stokes

DALE COUNTY: This morning Dale County Commission Chairman Steve McKinnon and members of the Dale County Commission - Chris Carroll, Donald Grantham, Charles "Chic" Gary, and Frankie Wilson approved a strong measure to support Emergency Medical Services in Dale County.
Last week Commission Chairman Steve McKinnon and the commissioners invited the Executive Director of the Alabama Association of County Commissioners, Sonny Brasfield, and the attorney employed by contract to oversee the ARPA Money provided by the federal government.
The Executive Director explained how the money could be allocated and used for. Present for the meeting were several Mayors and EMS Chief's from across Dale County.
The commission approved $ 1,600,025.00 to be allocated to four EMS agencies which takes responsibility for areas outside the police jurisdiction of municipalities and provides coverage to the county.
The money allocated to the county has to be allocated for areas outside of a police jurisdiction of incorporated municipality. Each municipality receives ARPA funds and responsible for inside the jurisdiction or municipal city limits.
The allocation breaks down as follows:
ARITON: 45 Dale County square miles; $ 717.50 rate per mile per quarter; Quarterly Amount $ 32,287.50; Total Contract Value $ 322,875.00
ECHO: 165 Dale County square miles; $ 717.50 rate per mile per quarter; Quaterly Amount $ 118,387.50; Total Contract Value $ 1,183,875.00
OZARK: 5 Dale County square miles; $ 717.50 rate per mile per quarter; Quaterly Amount $ 3,587.50; Total Contract Value $ 35, 875.00.
SOUTH DALE: 8 Dale County square miles; $ 717.50 rate per mile per quarter; Quaterly Amount $ 717.50; Quarterly Amount $ 5,740.00; Total Contract Value $ 57,400.00
There is 223 Dale County square miles which rests outside of a police jurisdiction of an incorporated municipality. The Dale County Commission Chairman and members of the Dale County Commission approved the total APRA Funding of $ 1,600,025.00.
The Dale County Commission Chairman and Dale County Commissioners and Coffee County Commissioners are the ONLY COUNTY COMMISSION who has committed to funding Emergency Medical Services for the citizens and guests in areas outside of the police jurisdiction and city limits of municipalities.
So far the other commissioners are using the money for water lines, window replacements in the Administrative building, plumbing repairs in the courthouses.
The Houston County Commission has held off discussing the issue until after the May 24th election.
