HOUSTON COUNTY:     On Monday Houston County Sheriff 911 dispatched Sheriff Patrol units to Fortner Street west of Lavier Hills to reports of a male subject missing. The male subject was last seen on Friday.

Houston County Sheriff Donald Valenza was on the scene. The Sheriff K-9 Team was deployed, K-9 Deputies Stormy and his partner Deputy Bagwell began working the area where the subject was last seen.

The Sheriff K-9 unit located the person behind the residence he was last seen. He was deceased. There was a recent diagnosis of cancer.

Houston County Sheriff Criminal Investigators along with Houston County Sheriff Donald Valenza personally worked the scene. Houston County Coroner Robert Byrd was called to the scene.

The death appears to be from natural causes. The Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences is assisting in determining the exact cause of death. No foul play is suspected at all.

Several calls about the crime scene tape and law enforcement on Fortner Street yesterday. We held this pending the notification of all of the next of kin.
