Defuniak Springs Man Jailed on Drug Charges

HOLMES COUNTY :On May 5, 2024, Holmes County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a call regarding a man lying in a private driveway on Red Rd. The caller stated he was breathing, but unresponsive.


When deputies arrived, they encountered the subject, identified as Joel Kelley, Jr., at the intersection of Valee Rd. and Red Rd. Kelley told deputies he parked his truck in the area the night before, but could not find it and went to sleep in the driveway.



Kelley gave deputies consent to search his person, at which time they discovered two burnt marijuana cigarettes and a marijuana vape pen. He was booked into the Holmes County Jail on charges of possession of a controlled substance (including marijuana) without a prescription, and possession of marijuana less than 20 grams.
