JACKSON COUNTY, FL - On June 7, 2022, at approximately 2:30 p.m., deputies with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) responded to a disturbance in the area of Highway 73 South.
The suspect, later identified as Matthew Ottavio Aliffi, had threatened the owner of the residence with a knife earlier in the day and later battered the victim. Upon arrival, deputies saw Aliffi hiding in the woods nearby, and when asked to come out, he fled the scene on foot.
The JCSO K-9 Tracking Unit deployed, and he was apprehended approximately half of a mile later. Matthew Ottavio Aliffi was taken into custody and charged Aggravated Assault, Simple Battery, and Resisting Arrest.
Sheriff Edenfield is appreciative of the community for their willingness to notify law enforcement when a crime occurs and for the swift action of JCSO deputies to bring this criminal to justice.
