Dorothy Mae Bass Colarusso went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 3, 2017 in her home surrounded by family. She was born on January 29, 1927 in Dothan, AL to the late John and Fedelia Bass. Dorothy’s parents died when she was a young girl and was raised by her grandparents, the late John and Elizabeth Bradley.


 


She loved and enjoyed spending time with her family, Sunday school class, a member of Madrid Baptist Church and also a member of Madrid Baptist Church Homemaker’s Club.


 


Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Ward Wilson Funeral Home on Monday, August 7, 2017 at 11 AM with Rev. Bobby Anderson and Rev Phillip Durr officiating. Family will be receiving friends at 10 AM, one hour prior to the service time. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing. Besides her parents and grandparents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Colarusso.


 


She is survived by her daughter, Shirley Andress ( John David), son Richard Colarusso (Pam), five granddaughters, Elizabeth Haynes (Jody), Gina Woodham (Josh), Brandy Starling (Neal), Kelley Colarusso (Greg), Marilyn Evans (Jeff), one grandson, Brian Andress (Amber), 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.


 


In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Madrid Baptist Church Building Fund, or the Alzheimer’s Association.


 


The family would like to give a special thank and appreciation to Alacare Hospice and Home Health Care.
