Dothan Man Arrested for Domestic Violence and Attempted Murder after Pointing Gun at Victim and Pulling Trigger

DOTHAN ALA:On June 28, 2024, Dothan Police Investigators arrested Brantley Lloyd Tolleson (43) of Dothan for Domestic Violence 1^st degree and Attempted Murder after an incident in the 2000 block of Cecily Street in Dothan.  After being locked out of the residence by the victim, Tolleson forced entry into the residence by kicking the front door.  Tolleson pulled a handgun on the victim, pointed it at the victim, and pulled the trigger.  Tolleson was unaware the victim had unloaded the firearm before giving it to him to leave earlier.

On June 28, 2024, Dothan Police Officers responded to a residence in the 2000 block of Cecily Street for a domestic disturbance and burglary.  Officers encountered Tolleson and detained him.  During the investigation, officers discovered Tolleson and the victim were involved in a verbal altercation where the victim asked Tolleson to leave.  The victim provided Tolleson with his belongings, which included a handgun.  The victim, afraid that violence would occur, unloaded the firearm before giving it to Tolleson.  Once Tolleson was outside, the victim locked him out of the residence.

Tolleson then kicked open the door and looked to steal the victim’s keys so she could not leave.  While this was happening, the victim had already called 911.  During the burglary, Tolleson pulled out the firearm and pointed it at the victim.  Tolleson then pulled the trigger.  Tolleson was detained by police.  Once in custody, Tolleson made comments that showed he intended to kill the victim when he pulled the trigger.  Tolleson was charged with one count of Domestic Violence 1^st degree (Burglary 1^st degree) and one count of Attempted Murder.
