OZARK ALABAMA:

OZARK, Ala. (WDHN) — A Dothan man is facing charges after police say he pulled out a gun while arguing during an Ozark funeral.

According to police, Thursday evening, an argument between Clarence Royce Smith, 38, and other funeral-goers led to a gun being pulled out and pointed at members of the deceased’s family.

Ozark Police Chief Marlos Walker told WDHN the argument began at Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home, led to an evacuation, and then resulted in police being called to the scene.

When officers arrived, they found Smith in the parking lot as well as witnesses that said they saw the argument start and saw Smith pull out his weapon.

Meanwhile, Smith has taken to Facebook to tell his own side of the story.

“I was inside and there was about ten of them coming after me inside,” Smith said in a Facebook Live video. “I pulled my firearm in fear that these ten guys were fixing to jump on me.”

Friday afternoon, Smith was arrested and charged with menacing and 3rd degree criminal mischief. He was taken to the Dale County Jail where he was quickly bonded out.

There, WDHN attempted to speak with Smith as he walked out of the jail, but he was unable to comment.

Clarence Royce Smith lives in Houston County Alabama
