DUAL AGENCY PURSUIT ENDS IN MULTIPLE CHARGES

BONIFAY – On May 2, an HCSO deputy was dispatched to a pursuit initiated by Washington County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO). The deputy joined the pursuit on Byrd Ave. in Bonifay after the suspect vehicle exited the interstate. The vehicle then traveled down Weeks St. to Hwy 90, turned onto Hubbard St., and ultimately stopped after hitting the mailbox at a residence on E Iowa Ave.
When the vehicle stopped, the driver, identified as Julian E. Sanders of Bonifay, fled on foot. While running, Sanders threw a baggie of methamphetamine and a pistol into the nearby wood line. Both were recovered.
Sanders, who did not have a valid driver’s license, was apprehended and taken to the Holmes County Jail. He is charged with fleeing and attempting to elude, resisting an officer without violence, possession of methamphetamine, and felon in possession of a firearm.
It’s always a good day when agencies work across county lines to keep both communities safe!
