COLUMBIA ALA: Due to heavy rainfall along the Chattahoochee Waterway, the Army Corps of Engineers is releasing copious amounts of water downstream in an effort to manage the waterway levels.
This release will continue throughout the afternoon and into the night. This will bring extreme currents along the Chattahoochee as the excess water flows through. Please avoid entering the waterway for any reason.
As of now, levels are not projected to reach flood stage, but this could change later in the day. The tailwater is currently measured at 94ft with a projected peak of 103ft.
We are actively monitoring the situation in conjunction with Columbia PD and Dothan-Houston County EMA and will provide updated information as it becomes available.
