Tomorrow, May 25, Johnny Henderson Park in Enterprise will be welcoming a new weevil called the Hope Weevil.


The ceremony will take place at 2 PM.


Shelby DiPilla, Beacon of Hope owner, felt a calling to include an autism weevil in the park in hopes of bringing autism awareness to the city of Enterprise.


According to the Weevil Way Facebook page, the rainbow infinity sign on the weevil represents the spectrum of individuality while the puzzle piece symbol indicates that by working together and accepting those with differences, all can contribute to the community.


"Autism is not a disability; it's a different kind of ability," the page states.


The new weevil will be located in the play area of the park. People may take a picture with the weevil and scan the QR code located on it to learn more about autism and support provided by Beacon of Hope. 


Currently, people in the Enterprise area can visit local businesses to see the creative weevils that represent them.
