It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Falco, the beloved certified police dog, at the age of seven. Falco was not just a dedicated and loyal partner to the force; he was a cherished member of the police family and a true hero in every sense of the word.
Falco was born October 14, 2015, in Hungary and later brought to America. His service with the Abbeville and Henry County police departments many years ago as a dual-purpose K-9 Certified Police Officer. Falco also assisted multiple other law enforcement agencies such as the Alabama Drug Enforcement Task Force, DEA, Headland Police Department, Barbour County Sheriff’s Office, Eufaula Police Department, and many others.
Falco was more than just a K9, he was full of life. He loved to work. Falco is responsible for taking an exceedingly number of drugs off the streets.
Falco retired in January 2023. He spent his last days loving life and was loved by so many people.
Falco’s life will leave a void in the hearts of his current handler, Lieutenant Josh Berringer, and the entire law enforcement community. He will be remembered for his dedication, bravery, and the countless lives he touched throughout his career.
