Gordy Hardy was one of my very best friends in the 9th grade...during the summer between the 9th and the 10th grade Gordy drowned while fishing in a local pond.
That was my very first experience losing someone very close to me...unfortunately it wouldn’t be my last.
Earl Hardy, Gordy’s dad, walked in my store about 3 years ago and sat down in front of my desk and he said he wanted to give me a donation for the Angel Of Hope.
Tears fell from my eyes...I hadn’t seen Mr. Hardy since Gordys funeral in 1973. I passed out at Gordy’s funeral.
I couldn’t believe after more than 40 years later, Gordy’s dad would be sitting in front of me at my office.
I gave him the biggest hug I had in me to give.
Several months later he visited with me again and later we met at the Angel Of Hope and holding Gordy’s picture together and thankfully a picture was taken of that very special moment in my life.
On January 17, 2021 Mr. Hardy and Gordy were together again in Heaven.
You never know when a moment can become a special memory.
That moment when Gordy’s dad sat down in my office will be a very special memory for the rest of my life.
