DOTHAN, Ala. - The Dothan Areas Chamber of Commerce announced today that five outstanding business owners have been named as finalists for the organization’s 2021 Small Business Person of the Year award.

The DACC has been presenting the Small Business Person of the Year award to deserving outstanding business owners since 1987. Agnes Simpson of WOOF Radio was the Chamber’s first Small Business Person of the Year award recipient. The 2021 finalists are:

1. Gina Grant, Century 21 James Grant Realty

2. Mackroyce Corbitt Jr., Computer Printing Etc.

3. David Guiler, Premier Entertainment Group, LLC

4. Cameron A. Metcalf, Metcalf & Co., LLC; and

5. Christ Suddarth, TriState Graphics Inc.

Each year in May, the Dothan Area Chamber of Commerce honors its small business members with a week of activities, which includes its Small Business Person of the Year Luncheon where the Chamber makes the announcement of who the award winner is. The 2021 celebrations will take place this year the week of May 10-14.

"We have a great week planned where our members can get together, have some fun and create new business connections and partnerships. We have several exciting events planned

for this year including a Kick-Off Ribbon Cutting with A Taste of Louisiana Food Truck, an educational leadership seminar, a Ladies Night Out at the Porter Hardware Museum, a luncheon tour at the Wiregrass Safety Center and a Good Morning Business Connections," said Hayden Camp, director of membership.

This prestigious recognition is awarded annually to an individual owner of a local small business (1-25 employees). The candidate must show growth or sustainability of their business, have strong employee relations, show commitment to social responsibility and exemplify strong community involvement. Although the candidates will be judged in all of these areas, they do not have to excel in every area to win.

For more information about all the activities planned for the week, visit the Dothan Area Chamber’s Facebook page or its website calendar at www.dothan.com.
