On 11-24-19 at approximately 10:15 a.m. a Deputy with the Uniform Patrol Division of the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a criminal mischief complaint near the Calhoun County line on Hwy 73 South. The victim reported that her grandson, Bucanan Easton Boggs, had broken the windshield out of her truck. When questioned about the incident Boggs became irate and stepped up in the Deputy’s face in an aggressive posture. When he was warned by the Deputy that he could go to jail regarding his behavior, Boggs stated, “yes, let’s go to jail,” and pushed past the Deputy with his shoulder and left arm. When the Deputy attempted to detain Boggs, the suspect threw his cell phone, striking the Deputy on the foot and shattering the phone. Boggs snatched away from the Deputy and had to be placed on the ground where he was handcuffed and placed under arrest. The Deputy received a minor knee injury as a result of the scuffle. He was treated and released from Jackson Hospital. Boggs was lodged in the Jackson County Correctional Facility to await first appearance. He was charged with Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer, Resisting Arrest with Violence, and Criminal Mischief.
