DOTHAN: From Dothan Mayor Mark Saliba
I recently got to give the welcome at the program “A Conversation in Black and White” held at the Wiregrass Museum of Art, on racial diversity. I have spoken before at similar events about what a great diverse community we have, and how important that is to me. But also about the intentionality that it takes to embrace that diversity, and appreciate all that we have in common as a people, all the things that we share as citizens and neighbors.
It reminds me of Sandi Patty’s song that I like, “Love in Any Language,” and these are two stanzas from it:
“Oh, maybe when we realize how much there is to share. We’ll find too much in common to pretend it isn’t there.
Love in any language, straight from the heart, pulls us all together, never apart. And once we learn to speak it, all the world will hear, Love in any language, fluently spoken here.”
That is my prayer for this community, that we speak fluently the language of love for one another!
