FROM GENEVA COUNTY COMMISSIONER WESTON SPIVEY
110 days since the four way stop has been implemented the intersection of County Road 49 & 28 is still accident free in the midst of heavy usage from travelers all over the southeast traveling to the beach.
Some criticized this project without the facts.
Bottom line the decisions we make about road projects for our local community are evaluated before being made by opinions from Law Enforcement, Fire & Rescue, Engineers, Residents and those who have been affected.
We could have an accident tomorrow but this intersection is much safer today than it’s ever been.
The amount of accidents that was happening at this intersection was devastating. We as County officials must always work to better our road systems to keep our residents safe!
There is never no excuse to let something stay the same when we have the opportunity to make a positive change and save lives.
I would like to thank our staff at Road & Bridge for working so hard on this project the grant funding we received also helped tremendously on this project.
As your Commissioner one project at a time I want to make our community safer.
I also would like to thank all of our first responders who have had so much experience with this intersection in the past. Thank you for working hand and hand with us to find a better solution!
