A Savannah, Georgia police officer who served 21 years in the U.S. Army was shot and killed Saturday during a robbery investigation.
Sgt. Kelvin Ansari, 50, was investigating a call when he walked by a vehicle occupied by a robbery suspect, later identified as Edward Fuller III, 49, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. GBI said Fuller began firing, striking Ansari and Officer Douglas Thomas before fleeing. Fuller was later found and shot when police said he pointed a handgun at the officers.
