ASHFORD - GORDON - COLUMBIA: 12:04 PM Someone call Houston County Commission Chairman Brandon Shoupe and the Houston County Commissioners and relate the following to him/them.
At the time of this writing multiple Houston County Sheriff Deputies and Columbia Police are looking for someone who ran from the Sheriff Deputy on a traffic stop. The person has outstanding arrest warrants out of Early County Georgia.
While this is on-going Ashford Police was dispatched a dispute off North County Road 55 which runs from Ashford to Highway 52. This was a call where for the second time today law enforcement has had to respond. Houston County 911 felt Ashford Police needed backup assistance.
Gordon Police had started rolling to Columbia but not notified Houston County 911 that he was enroute. Houston County 911 dispatched Gordon Police to respond to Highway 55 north of Ashford to backup Ashford Police Department on that call. And the Gordon officer gladly responded to backup Ashford Police Department.
Houston County Commission Chairman Brandon Shoupe called a September 24th meeting of all Mayor and Police's Chief's to meet with Houston County Sheriff Donald Valenza for an "emergency meeting in reference to dispatch". RSN found out that Chairman Shoupe wanted to charge each municipality $ 25,000.00 a year for dispatch services.
RSN called out Chairman Shoupe in an article. The next day Larry McKee of WDIG AM 1450 Newstalk read the RSN article. Chairman Shoupe called in live on the air, his comments were recorded, stating that he could not beleive McKee was getting news from RSN. Chairman Shoupe told McKee, as reported to me by McKee, the idea was Houston County Sheriff Donald Valenza's idea.
Sheriff Valenza, who had been out of town Sundat through Wednesday fulfilling his duties as President of the Alabama Sheriff Association, returned in the office on Thursday. Sheriff Valenza was ticked. And he personally called all the Mayor's and Chief of Police across the county cancelling the meeting and stated that was not his idea.
On Friday Sheriff Valenza text me to call him and stated my article was correct.
SO.... Houston County Commission Chairman Brandon Shoupe and Houston County Commissioners... the agencies back each other up. This morning was an example of that with Gordon responding to Ashford. So is Houston County going to pay these municipalities $ 25,000.00 per year for backing departments up?
Chairman Shoupe, you have no clue what happens in emergency services. And from watching you in 1.5 years as Chairman, you and this commission are the WORSE that I have witnessed. And I have been around the Houston County Commission since 1977 when Nathan Mathis was the Houston County Commission Chairman. Ya'll have no clue.
Ladies and gentleman, Brandon Shoupe LIED about the idea of the $ 25,000.00.
Ladies and gentleman, Brandon Shoupe and the Houston County Commissioners have no clue about appointments to the Hospital Authority and the proposed legislation needs a sounding NO VOTE.
Ladies and gentleman, Brandon Shoupe and the Houston County Commission have no clue about the Lodging tax long term. The are dangling carrots attempting to get support. But a sounding vote of NO on the lodging tax. The Mayor and Dothan Commission do not support this issue.
THANK YOU to the municipal departments and Houston County Sheriff Department working together.
