DALE COUNTY:      A lifelong goal of one day becoming Dale County Sheriff, Mason Bynum took the oath of office on Tuesday having now arrived at his goal.


With his beautiful wife and two daughters by his side, Mason Bynum was administered the oath of Dale County Sheriff by the Presiding Judge of the 33rd Judicial Circuit, William Filmore.


First the Oath was opened in prayer by Sheriff Mason Bynum's pastor. Then the oath of Office by Judge Filmore.


Mason Bynum thanked those along the way which helped him to become Sheriff. First was Godly parents who raised him in a Christian home and taught him how to treat others. His parents along with his grandparents who molded him into the man he is today.


Present for the Swearing in was Retired Dale County Sheriff Bryant Mixon. Bynum thanked Sheriff Mixon for his mentoring, his allowing Bynum to do a internship under Sheriff Mixon and the influence Sheriff Mixon played in his goal to become Dale County Sheriff.


Bynum thanked the former Police Chief in Auburn, who is now deceased, for giving him his first job in law enforcement and that was as an Auburn Police Officer.


Incumbent Dale County Sheriff Wally Olson did not seek re-election. Bynum, Olson's Chief Deputy, ran unopposed for Sheriff. Bynum thanked Wally Olson for his trust and confidence he has had in him, for his friendship, and for establishing a firm foundation which the Dale County Sheriff Department operates on and can build from.


Bynum thanked his wife who has been with him all along this journey in law enforcement. It takes a lot away from the family and his wife manages the family when Bynum suddenly bolts away on emergency situations.


Bynum said he will always do what he feels is in the best interest of Dale County, and pledges that he will not be out worked. He has an open door policy and his hearts desire is to serve the people of Dale County.


Bynum did confess a secret weapon had he not been fortunate enough to run unopposed. He was going to take his two daughters door to door and no one could say no to their beautiful smiles!!! Bynum had a beautiful family by his side as he begins his journey as the Sheriff.


At 3 PM on Tuesday Sheriff Bynum was given a door plaque for his office, a new Shirt that read Mason Bynum, Sheriff, and a new badge, Sheriff.


Bynum spoke to all members of the Sheriff Department from all areas, Patrol, Investigation, Corrections, Administration and said it was a pleasure to get up every day and come to work in a great county along side a great staff. That he looked forward to to the future.


With than Sheriff Bynum administered the Oath to all of the sworn personnel of the Dale County Sheriff's Office. After a round of applause both to Sheriff Bynum and the men and women who will serve with him, off to work everyone went.


Bynum promoted Dale County Sheriff Captain Kyle Anderson to the rank of Chief Deputy.
