DOTHAN:    We would like to say a very special HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Spencer Stokes. Today is his 27th birthday.

When Spencer was in school I asked him on one of his birthdays how did it feel to be a year older? His quick witted reply was “I don’t know how does it feel to be a year closer to the nursing home”. So guess who will not be in charge of me?

Spencer is a full time firefighter/paramedic with Dothan Fire Department. He is a product of the Wiregrass Training Center brought to Dothan by Dothan Fire Chief Larry Williams and Retired Dothan Police Chief Steve Parrish along with the Wiregrass Foundation and Dr. Barbara Alford.

Spencer first took the EMT course. Thanks to Brandon and Kyle Hovey and Slocomb Fire - Rescue they sponsored Spencer in the rookie fire class at Wiregrass Training Center. On graduation Spencer worked at Slocomb Fire - Rescue. Later he was hired by Dothan Fire Department and he continued part time at Slocomb Fire - Rescue.

Spencer went on to take the EMS courses to Intermediate and then Paramedic.

Now he works part time with Headland Fire - Rescue when not at Dothan Fire Department.

Spencer’’s girlfriend, Kirstin, who is a physical therapist, keeps him in line and busy.

Spencer also spends time with nephew Brantley Bradley and has gotten Brantley into golf. Spencer spent his birthday morning with Brantley playing golf at the Highland’s this morning. And the golf bug has bitten Brantley and he is taking golf lessons from pro Ryan Benton.

Spencer graduated from Rehobeth High School. And he works some, when time, with A - Advantage Bonding.
