Today is the anniversary of the deaths of two of Hartford’s Bravest. On Sunday, September 10, 1916 Chief Ike Chancey was fatally shot by the brother of a man who Chief Chancey had shot during an arrest attempt. And on Thursday September 10, 1931 Chief Clayton Roney was fatally shot during a gun battle. Today we honor their service and remember their sacrifice. HPD is thankful for the service and sacrifice of these two Chiefs!
