HOLMES COUNTY :A traffic stop for a motorcycle without a tag escalated into a high-speed pursuit on November 21, 2024, when the driver, later identified as Cory Wise, refused to stop for a Holmes County Sheriff’s Office deputy.
The pursuit began on Highway 79 in Esto, with the suspect accelerating to speeds exceeding 130 mph as he traveled southbound.
As the pursuit neared the Bonifay city limits, Bonifay Police Department and additional HCSO deputies coordinated to block the road, preventing the suspect from entering town.
Wise was forced off the road by Bonifay PD near Raley Drive, where he crashed the motorcycle and fled on foot into a wooded area.
Following a brief foot chase, deputies apprehended him without further incident.
Cory Wise has been charged with the Fleeing and Attempting to Elude, Reckless Driving, No Valid Driver’s License, and Resisting Arrest Without Violence
Sheriff Tate expressed gratitude to the Bonifay Police Department and Bonifay Fire-Rescue for their assistance in safely resolving the situation.
