Pistol Permit Renewals
On March 13, 2020 President Trump issued a Declaration of National Emergency Concerning the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Outbreak. Special precautions are being taken throughout the Country as well as the State of Alabama. On March 17, 2020 while attending a meeting with members of the Alabama Sheriff’s Association, one topic of discussion brought up was concerning the topic of Pistol Permits and the renewals. Effective this date the Houston County Sheriff’s Office will extend a grace period of renewing an expired pistol permit until April 20,2020 in Houston County. If you expect to travel outside Houston County during this grace period you may come in and renew your pistol permit before travel.
Limited Access: Report Filing
Effective immediately the Houston County Sheriff’ Office will limit walk-ins for filing a report. Due to the current situation surrounding the Coronavirus, if you need to file a report with the Houston County Sheriff’s Office, we ask that you call Sheriff’s Office Communications at 334-677-4808 or 334-677-4807. We will have a deputy make contact with you in regards to filing your report. Thank you for your cooperation during this time of uncertainty.
Houston County Jail Visitation
In an effort to help prevent the spread of Coronavirus in the Houston County Jail, effective immediately, all inmate visitation will cease until further notice.
