HOUSTON COUNTY:     Late this afternoon, 4:00 PM - 4:30 PM, a young lady broke down at or near Fortner Street and Woodland.

A "OFF DUTY" Houston County Sheriff Deputy stopped. The Deputy exited his vehicle to assist the young lady. The Deputy pushed the car from the roadway to clear the traffic hazard.

The young lady was emotionally upset. She called her daddy who lived in Ozark to come get her and to see what was wrong with her vehicle.

The "OFF DUTY" Houston County Sheriff Deputy refused to leave this young lady until her dad arrived. Again, her dad lived in Ozark.

FREE OF CHARGE, not on the clock, this Houston County Sheriff Deputy remained with her in order for her to feel safe and secure until her dad got there.

Her dad called me. It took a few minutes of questioning to determine which deputy it was.

It was Houston County Sheriff Deputy Robert Jenkins.

Houston County Sheriff Deputy Robert Jenkins has been with the Sheriff Department for a number of years. Deputy Jenkins served in Patrol Division a number of years, then School Resource Deputy at Cottonwood High School and is currently assigned to the Civil Division of Houston County Sheriff Department.

Deputy Robert Jenkins dad was a retired Lieutenant with Dothan Police Department and after retirrement, served as an Investigator with the 20th Judicial District Attorney Office until his death.

So Jenkins comes from a long line of law enforcement service.

He is the type of Deputy who can arrest you and place you in jail, and you would be telling him THANK YOU. He will treat you with kindness and respect, as long as you let him.

The dad of this young lady wanted everyone to know that today, for his little girl, Houston County Sheriff Deputy Robert Jenkins took great care, physically and emotionally of his little girl.

When Houston County Sheriff Donald Valena was told he said that Robert Jenkins is a great Deputy and has served the department and citizens well. Sheriff Valenza said these are the compliments he likes to hear where Deputies take care of people in their time of need.

GOOD JOB AND THANK YOU ROBERT.
