DOTHAN: This morning at the 10:00 AM regular scheduled Dothan Commission meeting some extensive discussion over the new Animal Control Shelter to be approved and constructed.
Dothan Commercial Builder Ricky Saliba, to my knowledge no relation to Dothan Mayor Mark Saliba who is in the residential construction and real estate business, addressed the Dothan City Commission.
Dothan Businessman Ricky Saliba, who constructued such building as Flowers Hospital, Dr. Heersinks building - Eye Center south, City of Dothan-Houston County Communications District Building ( 911 Center ) and other commercial buildings addressed the Dothan Commission over this issue.
When reviewing the Dothan Commission agenda, this is items 12, 17 and 18. Scroll in the video to 31:14 where the discussion begins.
Mr. Ricky Saliba has many concerns. After addressing the Dothan Mayor and Associate Commissioners, some stating that Mr. Ricky Saliba made some valid points, the commission decided to tabled this issue until their next meeting. Dothan Mayor Mark Saliba was not in favor of tabling the issue.
This is a public - private partnership and as you can listen to Mr. Saliba, a lot of legitimate concerns.
GET THIS STRAIGHT - Mr. Ricky Saliba is not against taking care of the animals. He is concerned how this particular deal is set up and that the City of Dothan has more pressing issued then the committment of $ 6 million plus dollars with so many unaswered questions.
