Ivey rescinds evacuation as Delta stays west; coast open to visitors

MONTGOMERY: Hurricane Delta’s westward shift is bad news for Louisiana, but for visitors to Alabama the coast is clear. Literally: The governor has withdrawn an order for nonresidents to get out.


Earlier this week, when southwest Alabama was well within the zone of possible landfall, Gov. Kay Ivey declared a general State of Emergency and followed it up with a supplemental order requiring a partial evacuation of the town of Dauphin Island and all of Baldwin County south of the Intracoastal Waterway.
