Jackson County Charged Man with Possession of Mathamphetamine

JACKSON COUNTY, FLA. – On Tuesday, June 11, around 7:30 p.m., a Jackson County Sheriff’s Office Deputy was patrolling the area of Highway 71 near Rocky Creek Road, and saw a spray-painted motorcycle parked at a gas station. The deputy recognized the motorcycle to be one that had previously fled from him.

 

The deputy called a Florida Highway Patrol Trooper for back up, but the operator failed to return to the motorcycle. Deputies and Troopers made contact with the suspect inside the store, and he identified himself as Jason Perry. Upon further investigation, Perry was found not to have a motorcycle endorsement.

 

When deputies ran the VIN number of the motorcycle, they determined it to be stolen from the Tallahassee area. Perry was placed into handcuffs and K-9 Rocky was deployed and alerted to the odor of narcotics inside Perry’s backpack. A handgun loaded with five rounds was located in the backpack, and a sunglasses case filled with 5.7 grams of methamphetamine and glass smoking pipe were located near the backpack.

 

Perry was arrested and is being charged with Dealing in Stolen Property, Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of a Weapon.
