I am honored to have been able to serve the people of Dale County for the last 36 years while working in the funeral home industry. I feel that I have exemplified my duties by going above and beyond what is expected from the families that have been affected by a death. I have always tried to treat the families I am working with as family, and I practice this belief daily. It gives me great pleasure to announce my candidacy for election as Dale County Coroner.
Having been a 1988 graduate of Carroll High School, I began my ties to Dale County at an early age. From high school I then attended Enterprise State Junior College. Just a few of my honors and achievements include being a graduate of John A. Gupton College of Mortuary Science, Licensed Funeral Director/Embalmer for the State of Alabama, Certified Funeral Service Practioner which required 180 hours of continuing education and 20 hours/year to maintain, and licensing from the International Conference of Funeral Service Examining Board. While these credentials give me pleasure and satisfaction, my involvement in the community is where I feel my strongest and most complete callings come from. I feel a person’s true worth shines when service to others is being done and I feel that I have served the citizens of Dale County in many ways. Some of those include:
- Current Deputy Coroner for Dale County Coroner’s Office
- Board of Directors-Dale County United Way
- Board of Directors-Vivian B. Adams School
- Immediate Past President-Ozark Kiwanis Club
- President Pro Tem-City of Ozark Board of Zoning and Adjustments
- Member of Ozark First Assembly of God Church
- Member-Alabama Coroners Association
- Completion of the “Sudden Unexplained Infant Death Investigation” Training by State of Alabama Department of Human Resources
- Member-Dale County Cattleman’s Association
- Yearly service held in remembrance of the “Anniversary of September 11th”
- Fed staff at Dale Medical Center during pandemic
- Received the award-Excellence in Customer Service Award-Johnson Consulting Group
- Donated supplies-Dale County Boy’s and Girl’s Club of Ozark, Inc.
Thank you in advance for your support to elect me as Dale County Coroner on May 24, 2022. I hope I have and continue to demonstrate a caring and compassionate existence. I modestly ask for your vote and support in the upcoming election as I run as the Republican Primary for Dale County Coroner.
Respectfully submitted,
John Cawley, Deputy Coroner-Dale County
