ASHFORD—The Ashford Masonic Lodge and Ashford Baseball and Softball are holding a Turkey shoot in Ashford this Thanksgiving morning, with prizes available for those with the best aim.

You can purchase 5 shots for $20 this Thursday or buy raffle tickets; you have various chances to win gift cards, cash, or a new rifle.

Here’s how it works:

There will be 25 lanes with targets for people to shoot. Whoever hits closest to the target will receive a coupon for a free ham or turkey and a dozen donuts.

Once those shoots are finished, the winner from each round will compete once more for the chance to win a new rifle or cash prizes of $250 and $100.

The baseball and softball teams are also selling raffle tickets for gift cards valued at $500, $250 and $100.

All of the proceeds are split between the Ashford Masonic Lodge and the Ashford Athletic Department.

The Turkey Shoot kicks off at 7 a.m. Thanksgiving morning at Smith’s True Value Hardware on Highway 84 in Ashford.

“We encourage everyone to come out and shoot,” said Ashford Baseball Coach Parker Moman. “It’s good fellowship Thanksgiving morning if you don’t have anything to do.”

Mason Tracy Adams helped organize the event. He said he’s expecting at least 200 people to come and support the cause.

“Come out and join us,” he said. “If nothing else, just come watch. It’s a great family function, and it’s a great fundraiser.

“We’re going to have a large time.”

Last year had a record-breaking turnout—organizers say they're trying to beat the record yet again.
