Leesburg Man Arrested for DUI

JACKSON COUNTY, FLA. – On Wednesday, Nov. 20, around 7:15 p.m., deputies saw a vehicle driving with the hazard lights on, and no rear running lights on Highway 71 South and conducted a traffic stop. When deputies made contact with the driver, Daniel Berninger, they noticed the smell of burnt marijuana coming from the vehicle.


A search of the vehicle was conducted, and deputies located approximately 14 partially smoked marijuana cigarettes inside the glove compartment. Deputies then conducted a series of field sobriety exercises, which Berninger was unable to successfully complete.


Berninger was arrested and is being charged with Driving Under the Influence of a Chemical Substance.
