DOTHAN: Dothan Police responded to 2063 Ross Clark Circle to a critical motor vehicle accident.
When emergency units arrived the injuries were not as serious as dispatched.
Dothan Police Patrol Division is commanded by a Lieutenant, Sergeant and Corporals on a daily basis of the men and women in uniform on patrol. There are four Lieutenants that command different squads.
One of those Lieutenants is Lt. Racheal David. At one time she was the Public Information Officer for Dothan Police Department. But she now commands one of the Patrol unit squads.
At the wreck today there was a child in one of the vehicles. The child was not injured.
Before I go further let me stress something - on the scene there were experienced officers of rank and no rank. All on the scene was under control and being handled. So the actions of the Patrol Shift Commander, Lt. David, did not neglect any scene management.
Lt. Rachel David focused her attention on a child. She sit down on the ground with the child occupying his attention and keeping his focus off what he had just gone through. She made sure he was calm and not paying attention to what had just happened.
This is pointed out because law enforcement officers in general get a bad rap from some of the public. And I will be one of the first to call them out if the need arises.
But I will also be the first to compliment when they deserve it.
Dothan Police Lt. Rachel David is a professional officer who has a compassion for people. A true compassion. Thanks for what you do.
