On Friday, August 21, 2020, a Deputy with the Uniform Patrol Division responded to the Dollar General in Greenwood, in reference to a disturbance. Upon arrival, the Deputy made contact with several store employees who advised that Rickie Beamon-Hundley had engaged in a verbal altercation with a store employee. During the altercation, Beamon-Hundley pushed over a display rack, causing damage to it and the merchandise it held. Beamon-Hundley continued to engage in the verbal altercation despite being ordered to leave by a second store employee. Beamon-Hundley then pushed the second employee out of the way, to pursue the first employee. Two other store patrons were able to get Beamon-Hundley to leave the store, and he punched the door as he exited, causing damage to the door. Video surveillance footage confirmed the statements provided by employees.
Contact was made with Beamon-Hundley at his residence, along with two witnesses. In a post-Miranda statement, Beamon-Hundley admitted to engaging in a public altercation with one of the employees, pushing over the display rack, and punching the door. The two patrons from the video were present and confirmed what had occurred. Beamon-Hundley was placed under arrest for multiple charges and transported to Jackson County Correctional Facility to await first appearance.
