Margaret Chuites passed away at the age of 92, on Good Friday, April 14, 2017, after a short illness at the Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan, Alabama.  Margaret was born Margaret H. Tillotson on October 28, 1924, to Lee Tillotson and Bertha Hays Tillotson in Crewe, Virginia.  Margaret was 1 of 5 children, sister, Mary Frances (deceased), brother, Leonard (deceased), brother, Vernon (deceased) and surviving sister, Lillian.


 


In 1942, Margaret met the love of her life and future father of her 5 children, Harry Chuites.  They married in 1943, making their home in North Carolina.  After Harry’s service in WWII, they purchased a 200-acre farm in Cottondale, Florida.  Harry and Margaret raised their 5 children on the farm, Nancy Shaffer/Audrey, Pride, LA (both deceased), Kenneth/Charlotte, Tallahassee, Florida, Donna Thames, Quincy, Florida, Pat Peterson/Mark, Raleigh, North Carolina and Wanda Whipple, Dothan, Alabama. Her grandchildren, Susie Chuites, Tallahassee, Florida, Amy Meche/Dean, Pride, Louisiana and Autrey Shaffer, Pride, Louisiana and Melissa Peterson, Raleigh, North Carolina.  Margaret was a devout Christian, wonderful wife, mother and grandmother and a friend to all who knew her.  After Harry’s death in 1975, Margaret moved to Dothan, Alabama to live with her daughter and caregiver, Wanda, with whom she lived with until her death.  She will be missed terribly by those who knew and loved her.  She will always be remembered as a strong and faithful Christian. 


 


A viewing with the family will begin at 2:00 p.m., followed by the service at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at the Ward Wilson Funeral Home, 2414 Hartford Road, in Dothan Alabama, phone # 334-792-4194.  Her burial will follow the service at Pilgrim’s Rest Baptist Church Cemetery in Cottondale, Florida.


 


In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made to The Wounded Warrior Project, P. O. Box 758516, Topeka, KS  66675-8516.
