Marianna Man Assest for Aggravated Battery with a Firearm

MARIANNA FL:On February 16th, 2021 at approximately 2:00pm, officers and investigators with the Marianna Police Department attempted to locate Jason Hayes in reference to an active warrant. Officers had knowledge that Hayes could possibly be at an apartment located at Gibb Marianna Village Apartments.
While at the apartment, officers made contact with a tenant of the apartment who allowed officers to enter the apartment and search for Hayes. During this time, officers located a closed door. Once the door was opened by officers, the door immediately shut.
Officers determined that it was Hayes who was holding the door shut and not allowing officers to enter the room. After several attempts, officers were able to get the door open and enter the room. Officers made contact with Hayes who refused to comply with orders to be restrained. A struggle with Hayes ensued which led to officers having to deploy a drive stun from an electronic control device to gain compliance. Shortly thereafter, Hayes was able to be restrained and removed from the apartment.
Hayes had an active arrest warrant for aggravated battery with a firearm and failure to appear on a resisting without violence charged. Hayes is being additionally charged with resisting arrest without violence in reference to the incident that took place on this date. Hayes was medically cleared and transported to the Jackson County Correctional Facility to await first appearance.
